Motion

I used the Motion Program to create this short intro. Many films use this program for creating movie titles.

Icon/Logo

The new Lil'Cass logo (apposed to the old...?)

Anyway, I used Photoshop to create this logo. The profile is a pic of me when I was a baby. I cut (play button) shards out of the face so you could tell it was a record in the background.

On-line presence has become a personal branding opportunity. Over the years I've joined 10 + music websites and every sight asks for a profile pic. My goal in this assignment was to create a logo that was fitting of the "Lil'Cass" username I always choose.

NYC photos

Assignment: Practice being aware of framing to capture instances of the third world in the first world and vice versa.

While still in the stage of struggling with this assignment i came home one night and saw this on my living room coffee table. Nothing was placed or arranged. If you can't make it out, it's my roommates P3 controller with the TV and air conditioner remotes. This shows a true Brooklyn apartment scene. Along with the Brooklyn Rail article which talked about how prevalent Arab culture was becoming in the borough.

I wanted to find a payphone because I think they're becoming a sign on "third world" however this was better than I could ask for. And just steps from my door.

My goal was to get the street which was torn to shreds. The kiosk worker in front of the Victoria Secrets was also a bonus.

This was a quick nab in Target as I knew I wasn't allowed to take photos in the store. I went into the store for this shot.

I saw this so perfectly placed on my way out I took the chance and yes, got told I had to leave, but I had already gotten the goods. I took the coffee as a part of the third world here in the first world, anddd... "for less"! In the world of fair trade coffee even Starbucks is trying to look more organic. You couldn't get more plastic and "produced" looking than this image.

This reminded me of a quote from the reading where the quote, "there's a third world in every first world and vice verse". It's my roommate locking the door on the way in.

Even in the fast paced world of Wall street, people have time to stop and smell the flowers.

This was taken mainly for framing reasons. There is me seeing the bridge, me seeing the empire state building and me seeing what the other photographer sees.

A mixing of the worlds.

I was enjoying taking pictures and something like 7 or 8 Asian guys speaking mandarin came right in front of my shots, set up their uber-fancy cameras and stacked their territory all around me. I suddenly felt like I was in China... except I was very obviously in NYC.

A shot of my roommates room- who keeps a piece of India always by his side.

This was meant to represent an American bribe while traveling in a third world, corrupt country. I had recently read about all the bribes necessary for passing through certain boarders.

This was really a hospital or school or something but I framed it to say "Catholic Mission" to represent the "Mission" endeavors of the 1800's.

My attempt to represent the first world in third world countries: ex-pats.
